The Fermata is a long duration performance, a living installation with minimum act of breathing in which the artist’s body is the main core of the whole construction of the object. Melati Suryodarmo is covered by a half-circled webbed plastic pipes, which is filled with yellow liquid. The work is based on the artist’s study about actions and reactions in life, their magnitude and direction.

The Fermata ist eine Langzeit-Performance, eine lebende Installation deren Handlung auf das Atmen beschränkt ist. Melati Suryodarmo ist von durchsichtigen Plastik-Schläuchen bedeckt, die mit gelber Flüssigkeit gefüllt sind. Die Arbeit basiert auf Studien der Künstlerin über Aktion und Reaktion im Leben, deren Wert und Richtung.
